More Mucking About

The Bush regime has spent its entire existence defying reality and obstructing real research and progress, especially in matters of science. The American people don't seem, generally, to have noticed this yet, but a leading member of the Preznit's own party, Senator Bill Frist, has broken with the White House on stem cell funding.

Maybe Frist has started to remember a few things about medicine that he seems to have forgotten as a politician. That reducing a patient's suffering and improving their lives is more important than pandering to special interest groupsvoters. I doubt it. My guess is he sees this as a way to distance himself a bit from Dubya's falling poll numbers and prepare to make a run in 2008.

But it's a start. Getting more funding for real stem cell research will definitely help people. And that's why it is so important to me that the government stop fucking around.
